Cookies are usually how I ease into holiday baking. They’re not as involved as making a cake, they take way less time than other baked goods, and you can easily double the recipe to make a huge batch for gifting or taking to a party.
Plus they are the easiest thing to snack on when you are in full on Christmas mode and running through your to do list. And hot chocolate is pretty much synonymous with the holidays, so what better way to spread some cheer than with a fresh batch of hot cocoa cookies.
This post covers 16 hot cocoa cookie recipes that work for cookie swaps, gift boxes, dessert tables, or just eating straight off the sheet pan at 10pm. The base mostly stays the same but you can get creative with toppings, drizzles, decorating, and mix-ins so no two batches look or taste the same.
Most of these come together in under 30 minutes and none of them require any fancy equipment or hard to find ingredients. If you can make a basic cookie, you can make all of these!
